Below: one of my first concept sketches for the movie, which was later a reference for one of the shots. In the end we decided to leave the car out not to take the attention from the characters.
For a while we were wondering about the design of the boy, Nacho. In the end we decided to first finish and then use the animatic as the main reference for his look - to make his design match his behaviour and the feeling of him we had while working on the boards, along the voice of the voice actress. We thought that portrayal of him will be the most genuine. The sketch turnaround below is one of my interpretations of him, which ended up being his final look in the end.
Below: some of my shots progress based on the storyboard above.

Below:
one of the earliest versions of the cut to the moon, which I thumbnailed while the story was still being brainstormed. Starting right before the kid brings up the topic of the money, it was made just to check if the direct cut to the moon will work. Back then my idea was to cut to the inside of the car first and only then to the moon and the title.
